Music for Dancing!

Groove Kitchen is a funky, soulful dance band with a bit of Latin thrown in for good measure.

As one of the city's most in-demand bands, GK has played many Victoria nightclubs as well as such high-profile events as the Victoria International Jazz Festival, Blues Bash, the Moss Street Paint Inn and the Dragon Boat Festival.

We play our own interpretations of tunes by Maceo Parker, James Brown, Average White Band, Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Bruno Mars, Cake, Steely Dan, Rolling Stones, Will Smith, Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson and more. The group is driven by keys, horns and a funky rhythm section. This band is suitable for dance/party type occasions - this ain't dinner music, it’s DANCING music!

If the song doesn't FILL the dance floor, we cut it! You can rest assured, your event will be a success.

Dave Anderson

Guitar & Vocals

The original holder of the "Diamond" handle, Dave was actually a finalist to be the original lead singer of Van Halen, even though he was only 5 years old at the time, but the imposter that everyone has come to know as Diamond Dave took advantage of his superior size and locked real Diamond in his locker so he missed the final audition. The rest is history.

Pedro Arbour

Drums & Vocals

Born in Guatemala/raised in NJ, Pete "Pedro" Arbour began his musical quest at age 4 on the piano. He later switched to drums around age 12, was already capable of subbing on tympani for the Drew University orchestra by 13, and has been moving upwards ever since on several instruments, as well as vocals, in a variety of situations/genres. Having shared the stage with touring members of big funk acts such as Parliament and James Brown, working as a studio musician and composer, and playing with countless tri-state area groups, he now gigs relentlessly here in Canada with acts ranging from local yahoos Coco Jafro to the Timebenders Next Wave, and records regularly. Pedro's strong vocal presence and seasoned frontman ability, coupled with his expert chops and precise timing on the kit, guarantees that Groove Kitchen's dishes get served muy caliente con un sabor perfecto!

Tom Lang

Keys & Piano

Tom Lang has entertained audiences around the world with his exciting guitar playing and soulful singing. Stints as hired guitarslinger for Australia’s Jimmy Barnes, Divinyls, and demonstrator for vocal products company TC Helicon have brought delight to thousands. Victoria, BC’s Acousticats drew a rabid fan group during their 8+ year tenure at Bartholomews and the during the last 5 years he’s played solo acoustic shows at the Westin Bear Mountain, as well as intimate weddings and parties. Groove Kitchen welcomes Tom on keys to the band!

Steven Moyer

Bass & Vocals

Over the past 30 years Steven Moyer has been delivering bass and vocals (live and studio) in a variety of groups, from jazz to R&B. Original music projects have also filled out a busy musical career. Working with percussionist Pete Arbour, Steve is laying down GK's funky bottom end.

Eric "The Red" Hughes

Alto & Tenor Sax

Originally joining the band as the lead tambourine player, Eric decided he would switch to his secondary instrument, saxophone, while still maintainging his all important job of "GoGo Guy". Check out the solos! That's what Eric loves to do!
